Bloomer senior Elizabeth Anderson looks for an opportunity to pass or shoot on Thursday, Jan. 6 at home against the Cadott Hornets. On Tuesday, Jan. 4 in Cameron, Anderson scored four points including going two for three at the free throw line.

 

The Bloomer Ladyhawks basketball team played three games last week coming away with two non-conference wins and a conference loss.

On Tuesday, Jan. 4, the girls played the Cameron Comets in Cameron coming away with a 64-63 win. Then on Thursday, Jan. 6, they played Cadott at home getting stung 47-68 by the Hornets. In Barron on Saturday, Jan. 8, the Ladyhawks defeated the Bears, 42-39, in another close game.

In Cameron on Tuesday, both teams played consistently with the Ladyhawks scoring 31 points in the first half and 33 in the second and the Comets scoring 33 points in the first and 30 points in the second.

For Bloomer, sophomore Dani Latz led the team with 20 points followed by sophomore Brooklyn Sarauer with 16. Senior Paige Jacobs scored eight points, sophomore Katlyn Jones scored six, seniors Makendal Kempe and Madison Faschingbauer each had five and senior Elizabeth Anderson scored four to round out the scoring for Bloomer on Tuesday.

On Thursday, at home, the Ladyhawks got off to a rough start, only scoring 17 points in the first half while the Hornets put 45 points on the board. In the second half, Bloomer battled back, scoring 30 points while holding Cadott to 23, but it proved to be too little, too late. The Hornets stayed on top, defeating the Ladyhawks 68-47.

Latz once again led the team on Thursday with 30 points sinking 13 out of 18 field goals and going four for seven from the free throw line. Faschingbauer sunk two 3-point shots and two out of two free throws for eight points against the Hornets. Sarauer scored five points, and Jones and sophomore Cierra Seibel each scored two to round out the scoring for Bloomer.

On Saturday in Barron, Bloomer again played consistently with 20 points in the first half and 22 in the second. 

Senior Abby Iverson was back in action and lead the team with 17 points. Latz scored 13 points, including seven out of eight free throws. Sarauer scored seven, Kempe and Seibel each had two and Faschingbauer sunk a free throw to round out Bloomer’s scoring against the Bears.

The Ladyhawks took on Osseo-Fairchild at Home on Tuesday, Jan. 11 and travel to Thorp on Friday, Jan. 14. They host Altoona on Tuesday, Jan. 18.
