The first weekend in March the Bloomer Iron Hawks had five individuals compete at the WHSPA (Wisconsin High School Powerlifting Association) state meet in Appleton, Wis.
Hannah LaGesse totaled 628.4 lbs., putting her in fifth place in the 123 weight class.
James McElroy competed in the 148 weight class and finished the day with a considerable squat of 341.7 lbs. helping him total 937 lbs.
Gabriel Prince solidified his spot at nationals by totaling 1001 lbs. in the 165 lb. weight class. Gabriel’s deadlift of 435.4 lbs., which is over 2.5x his body weight, helped him achieve that total.
McKenna Hilger competed in the 165 weight class and ended the day with a deadlift of 286.6 lbs. She totaled 610.5 lbs. and had a good performance for her first state meet.
Johnathan Mullenberg achieved a 259 lb. bench in the 275 lb. weight class, helping him total 1027.3 lbs.
LaGesse, McElroy and Prince will be competing at the USA Powerlifting National Championship on March 30 - April 2, in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
