The Cumberland Beavers threw past the Bloomer Blackhawks, literally, making five out of six touchdowns on pass plays. The Beavers outscored the Blackhawks 46–28 with a 30 point first half.

It was a battle of the arms Friday night in Cumberland as the Bloomer Blackhawks quarterback, senior Jack Strand, threw for 227 points and two TDs while Beaver quarterback Maddux Allen threw for 413 yards and five TDs. 

The Beavers scored 30 of their 46 points in the first half while keeping the Blackhawks out of the endzone and off the scoreboard.

In the first quarter Cumberland scored on an 11 yard pass from Allen to Gavin Jarchow. Also in the first quarter, Edward Chafer ran the ball in from four yards out. The two-point conversions were good on both and Cumberland led 16-0.

In the second quarter Allen again passed to Jarchow for another 11 yard TD, but the two-point conversion failed. Then Allen found an open reciever who in turn found the endzone on a 53 yard pass play. The two-point conversion was good and the score was 30-0 when the half ended.

Bloomer came out of the locker room after half-time fired up, scoring first in the third quarter when Strand ran the ball in from seven yards out. The two-conversion attempt was no good.

The Beavers answered back with a one yard pass from Allen to Jarchow for the touchdown and their two-point conversion was good.

In the fourth quarter, Bloomer scored first when Strand ran in from one yard out. He also ran in the two-point conversion making the score 14-38.

Cumberland answered back on another Allen to Jarchow pass play, this one for two yards. The conversion was good.

Bloomer scored two more touchdowns in the fourth quarter. The first was a 13 yard pass from Strand to senior Connor Crane, two-point conversion was no good. The final score of the game came on another Strand to Crane pass play, this time for 30 yards. Strand ran the ball in for the extra two points and the final score was Bloomer 28, Cumberland 46.

Bloomer moved the ball a total of 262 yards in 65 plays compared to Cumberland who moved the ball 458 yards in 81 plays. Both teams lost a fumble. 

Bloomer’s yardage came from 16 completed passes for 227 yards and 25 carries for 35 yards. 

Five Blackhawk receivers caught passes during the game. Crane was the top receiver, catching the ball ten times for 105 yards and two touchdowns. Junior Evan Rogge caught five passes for 54 yards, senior Marcus Harelstad caught the ball four times for 33 yards junior Ben Miller caught two passes for 18 yards and senior Bowen Rothbauer caught two passes for 17 yards.

On the ground, Harelstad was the top rusher carrying the ball 10 times for 23 yards, Miller carried the ball twice for 7 yards and Strand carried 13 times for five yards and two touchdowns.

The Beavers moved the ball 45 yards on the ground and passed for an additional 413 yards.

The Blackhawks(3-3, 3-5) host Spooner (3-3, 4-4) on Friday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. in the final conference game of the season.
