The Bloomer Blackhawks girls basketball team beat Baldwin-Woodville in the regional Friday, Feb. 22, but came up short at Prescott the next day.

Against the #6 seeded Baldwin-Woodville Blackhawks, Bloomer led 8-5 5:12 into the game, and then went on a 10-2 run. B-W made a basket with under a minute on the clock for an 18-9 halftime score. B-W tied the game at 27-27 with 9:05 left to play, and cut Bloomer’s lead to two points (32-30) with 3:55 on the clock. B-W was held scoreless until 1:11 on the clock when the final points were scored for the 40-32 final.

Senior Isabella Jenneman led both teams with 14 points, junior Emma Seibel scored nine points, senior Sierra Raine scored eight points along with 11 rebounds and senior Chloee Swartz scored eight points.

In the regional final at Prescott, the Hawks and the #2 seeded Cardinals were tied at 31-31 after a first half that saw Bloomer lead by as much as six points and Prescott lead by two points. The game was tied five times in the second half, the final time at 49-49. The Hawks got into foul trouble early in the half, putting the Cardinals in the bonus with around 10 minutes to play. Prescott went into the double bonus with around four minutes to play, and converted both free throws for a 56-52 lead. With under three minutes to play, the Cardinals made a field goal and went up 58-54. Prescott made a couple of more free throws with about a minute to play for a 60-55 lead, and added two more free throws with 7.8 seconds left in the game for the 62-57 final score. The Cardinals went 14-for-17 at the free-throw line in the second half.

Raine led Bloomer with 18 points and nine rebounds, Swartz scored 15 points along with seven assists and Isabella Jenneman scored eight points. Prescott’s Isabella Lenz scored 25 points to lead both teams, with 17 points in the first half, and Haylee Yaeger scored 17 points.

Bloomer ends the season with a 19-5 record.
