Blackhawks Outgunned By Barron And Cameron

Bloomer senior Dalton Grambo shoots for two points Friday, Jan. 31 against the Cameron Comets. Grambo only scored two points Friday night but on Tuesday, Jan. 28 in Barron he went two for two on 2-point shots and one for one on 3-pointers to score seven points.

The Bloomer Blackhawks boys basketball team had a rough couple of games last week losing to both Barron and Cameron in conference play.

On Tuesday, Jan. 28 in Barron the Blackhawks just couldn’t get the ball through the hoop despite taking more shots than the Bears. Bloomer made only 9 out of 27 attempted 2-point field goals and only three out of 23 attempted 3-point shots. The highlight of the game for Bloomer was shooting 64 percent at the free throw line making nine of 14 shots. Then on Friday, Jan. 31, at home, the visiting Cameron Comets simply out shot the Blackhawks from outside the 3-point line. Both teams made the same number of 2-point baskets with 12 each, but Cameron made 10 out 21 3-point shots while Bloomer only made five out of 11 3-point shots.

On Tuesday, Barron’s Carter LaLiberty was the games high scorer with 15 points followed by teammate Taten Mullikin with 13. For the Blackhawks Tuesday, senior Carter Rubenzer scored nine points, senior Dalton Grambo had seven, senior Leif Iverson and junior Charlie Herrick each scored six and junior Dalton Cook scored five points to round out the top five.

On Friday, Iverson scored 12 to lead the Blackhawks in points, but the Comets had three players in double digits, Richie Murphy with 21 points, Mark Daniels with 16 and Austin Weis with 13. Other top scorers for Bloomer on Friday were Herrick and senior Austin Thur with eight points each, Cook with six points and sophomore Connor Crane with four points to round out the top five.

Bloomer (5-6, 7-7) plays at Northwestern (8-3, 11-5) on Thursday, Feb. 6, and plays Stanely-Boyd at the Target Center on Saturday, Feb. 8.
