The Bloomer Blackhawks improved to 12-0 in the Heart O’ North Conference and secured a share of the conference title with a 49-40 win over Northwestern Friday, Feb. 1.

Both teams’ shooting was cold for most of the first half. Bloomer, down by three points, went on a 7-1 run in the final three minutes for a 16-13 halftime lead. The Tigers went nine-for-13 at the free-throw line in the first half.

The Hawks picked up where they left off, and were up 28-16 4:24 into the second half. The Tigers hit three 3-pointers to pull within five points with a little over 10 minutes to play, and cut Bloomer’s lead to two points (40-38) with 2:55 on the clock. The Hawks outscored the Tigers 9-2 to wrap up the game.

Senior Sierra Raine led both teams with 28 points, 12 rebounds and two blocks. Junior Emma Seibel scored seven points, senior Elle Kramschuster had six assists along with four points and junior Samantha Buchholtz had three steals.. Mackenzie Correll led the Tigers with 12 points.

Bloomer (16-1, 12-0) plays at Eau Claire Regis Tuesday, Feb. 5, and at Barron Thursday, Feb. 7, and hosts Durand Saturday, Feb. 9 and Fall Creek Monday, Feb. 11.
