Bowen Rothbauer, who just finished eighth grade in Bloomer, went on to wrestle in some Freestyle and Greco-Roman tournaments after the folk style wrestling season was over.

Rothbauer competed at the Wisconsin State Freestyle Tournament on May 5, in Wisconsin Dells. He went up against a high school state champ for his first match and lost with a technical fall. He was then able to wrestle his way back to a third place finish.

Rothbauer then received an invitation to compete on the Wisconsin Cadet National Dual Team in Spokane, Wash. He wrestled in Spokane on June 15–16. The Wisconsin Freestyle Cadet Team placed 11th in the nation.

He also competed at the Northern Great Plains Regional Tournament in Rochester, Minn. After not placing in freestyle wrestling on May 19, he wrestled Greco-Roman on May 20. He placed fourth in Greco-Roman Wrestling to qualify for a spot on the Cadet Men’s Division in Fargo, N.D., which will take place July 12–20.

Rothbauer will be going to a camp in Kaukauna to prepare for Fargo. He will also have a chance to wrestle-off at this camp in hopes of earning a spot in Freestyle Wrestling at Fargo.

Rothbauer is grateful for his coaches and mentors from both Bloomer Wrestling and Crass Trained—The Weigh In Club for all of their guidance, training, and encouragement along the way.
