Pearl E. Harelstad, age 91, of Chetek, Wis., died Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Atrium Post Acute Care of Chetek. She was born April 11, 1927 to Edmurald and Jemina (Harstad) Olson at Barron, Wis. She was raised in Sand Creek, Wis., where her parents operated the Sand Creek Café. She graduated from Colfax High School and attended Luther College for a time. On September 19, 1948, she was married to Harlan Harelstad at Sand Creek. She was a life-long member of Chetek Lutheran Church where she served as the church secretary and organist/pianist over the years. In her early years, Pearl worked at the Farmers Store in Chetek and later as a proofreader for the Chetek Alert for over 45 years. She enjoyed gardening, playing the piano and writing.
Pearl was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Harlan on April 12, 2015, daughters: Janet Ohlkie and Kathleen Nordin, and sister: Joyce Saastad. She is survived by her sons: Ronald (Katherine) Harelstad of Chetek and Robert Harelstad of Amery, granddaughter: Shannon (Ryan) Huisenga of Winnebago, Ill., great grandchildren: Naveah, Christian and Noelle, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, July 20 at the Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Home in Cameron with Rev. Guy Redfield officiating. Visitation will be held from 3-5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and interment will be at a later date in the Northern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery at Spooner. Arrangements are with Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Homes, Cameron and Dallas.
