Eileen C. Olson, age 89, passed away Thursday, August 27, 2020 at Dove Healthcare in Bloomer. She was born April 2, 1931 in Withee, Wis. to Pierce and Gertrude (Kagerah) Owens. She married George Olson on September 20, 1952 in Withee, Wis. Eileen enjoyed her job as a surgery nurse working at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire and Bloomer Hospital until her retirement. She loved dancing with George, camping with the family, and singing in church choirs and the New Auburn Community Choir. She was a very creative person, making cakes, crafting Christmas ornaments, knitting sweaters, mittens and caps for the military. A true gift of love was sewing handmade quilts for each of her 16 grandchildren. Eileen’s flower gardens, plants in the plant room and vegetable garden displayed her green thumb. She was awarded many blue ribbons at the Bloomer Fair for her flower arrangements and quilts. Her strong faith, gentle presence and loving heart was felt by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband: George of Bloomer; sons: Robert (Pamela) Olson of Bloomer and David (Wendy) Olson of Sioux Falls, S.D.; daughters: Judith (Jonathan) Bayba of Wausau, Wis. and Susan (Steven) Wall of Bloomer; 16 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and one on the way; numerous other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Pierce and Gertrude Owens; brother: Pierce Owens; grandson: Joseph Wall.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Scandinavian Lutheran Church in the Town of Woodmohr with a visitation at the church one hour before the service. Interment will be in the Bloomer Cemetery. Please observe social distancing guidelines. Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer is assisting the family.
