James “Jim” K. Rogge, 55, of Cooks Valley, passed away July 5, 2019, at his home.
He was born November 2, 1963, in Bloomer, the son of Delmar and Regina (Sykora) Rogge. Jim pushed himself through Bloomer High School by playing his guitar while living primitively in his small cabin on the family farm property with his horse. While a kid on the farm, he helped with chores but was nick-named the “shade tree mechanic” for his ability to fix/repair equipment. He married his high school sweetheart, Kristie Cronin and they had one son, James, before separating.
Jim was a lifelong carpenter, specializing in log home construction. He taught his son the trade and had him working as his assistant running along the tops of log homes.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and enjoying nature and the knowledge of living off his land. Jim was an incredible woodworker, constructing everything from sleighs to homes and (whittling/carving) everything in between. He loved to be wild and free and appreciated his good neighbors and campfires.
Jim is survived by his son, James (Ashley) Rogge of Sand Creek; three grandchildren, Paris, Athena, and Lennon; siblings, Diane (Larry) Gotham, Marilyn (Richard) Crawford, Linda (Chris) Culver, Dan (Anita) Rogge, Tim (Brenda) Rogge, Kevin Rogge, and Jeff (Shelly) Rogge; and a sister-in-law, Judy Rogge.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Wayne Rogge; and two infant brothers, Bertram and David.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Cooks Valley with Fr. Victor Feltes celebrating the mass. Visitation will be held two hours prior to mass at church. Burial will be private at a later date. A celebration of his life will follow the mass at Jim’s farm, 14422 40th St., Bloomer, Wis.
