Ruth M. Ruf, 86, of Bloomer, passed away Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Mayo Clinic Chippewa Valley Hospital in Bloomer.
Ruth was born April 19, 1935 in Independence, Wis. to Carl and Augusta (Reck) Kampa. She graduated from Independence High School and then went on to Viterbo and earned her nursing degree. She married Edward Ruf on November 16, 1957 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Independence, and celebrated 61 wonderful years of marriage together. Edward passed in July of 2019.
Ruth is survived by her children: Mike (Julie), Mary (Mike) Tschida, Jim (Lisa), John (Mary), Jerry (Carrie) and Jr (Shelly) all of Bloomer; Matt (Heather) of Altoona; further survived by 22 grandchildren: Kyle (Ashley), Becky, Nicole, Diana (Nate), Dena (Brian), Andrea (Jeff), Alex (Samantha), Taylor, Jordan, Mitchell (Colleen), Ryan (Kelsey), Adam, Micah (Whitney), Elisabeth, Marissa, Caleb, Jarett, Ashten, Dayne, Elisha, Zach and Shantelle and 19 great-grandchildren; siblings: Grace Gruenes of Minn,, Bernadine (John) Lovelien of Waukesha, Vitus (Sue) Kampa of Whitehall, sisters in laws: MaryAnn Schimmel and Clara Scheidecker; brothers in laws: Joe (Joyce) Ruf, Bill Schindler; numerous nieces, nephews and her four legged companion, Tiger.
She is further preceded in death by her parents and a son, Mark.
Ruth was a registered nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chippewa Falls and later at the Bloomer Hospital. She then devoted her time to her family by staying home and raising her children. She also completed much of the bookwork for “Ed’s Feed Service.”
She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, gardening, traveling with Ed and spending time reading and studying the Bible. She had a strong faith which she instilled into her family, who were most important to her. She treasured her time spent with family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at Thompson Funeral Home in Bloomer. Pastor Randy Stocksdale will officiate. Visitation will be held that morning from 9 – 11 a.m. A private committal service will be held at St. Catherine’s Cemetery.
