Donald “Don” Gene Clepper, 87, of Chippewa Falls passed away peacefully on Friday, August 16, 2019, at Home Suite Home Assisted Living.
Don was born on April 7, 1932, in Little Falls, Minn. to Royal Bertrum Clepper and LuLu Mae Campbell. He was number five of six brothers. In 1943, sometime after the death of their father the family moved to St. Paul. Around 1950 he married Christine Tarter of Hillsdale, Michigan. In 1951 their daughter Sandra was born. They later divorced and in 1955, he married Janet Lotz. In February of 1956 their son Thomas Clepper was born. In March of 1956 he joined the U.S. Navy and was Honorably discharged on March 14, 1962.
Don loved telling jokes, playing pranks, fishing, taking long drives, garage sales and drinking Pabst Blue Ribbon. He loved editing, printing and doing creative stuff with pictures. He always had treats for the great grandkids and loved playing tricks on them.
He worked as a groundskeeper, tree trimmer, and finally as a janitor and locksmith for The Milwaukee School of Engineering for 30+ years until he retired.
He is survived by his brother, Raymond (Shirley) Clepper of Chisago City, Minn.; his daughter, Sandra Jenkins of Hillsdale, Mich/; his son, Thomas (Judith) Clepper of Cumberland, Wis.; granddaughters, Beth (Jassen) Ferris of Cottage Grove, Minn., Rebecca Clepper of St. Paul, Minn., Tonya Ramelfanger (Justin Javener) of Bloomer, Wis., grandson, Shawn Clepper of St. Paul, Minn.. Also by great grandchildren, Samantha (Michael) Kenmir, Devon Ramelfanger (Cristal), Kristyn Long, Joseph Long, Tyler Ramelfanger, Kenneth Ramelfanger JR., Jonathan Briggs, Alex Ramelfanger (Mckinlea), Donavin Ramelfanger, Magdalyn Briggs, and Rachael Winkleman; great-great grandchildren, Jordan, Elliot, Lucas, Malia, Olivia, Joseph and one on the way.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Nick Pentrelli; brothers, Kenneth, Peter, Carl, and Lawrence Clepper; and nephews, Ricky Clepper, Raymond (Benny) Clepper and William Clepper.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 22, 2019, at Thompson Funeral Home in Bloomer. Visitation will be held two hours prior to service at the funeral home. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner.
