Martha M. Hell, 90, passed away Sunday, Jan. 19, 2020, at Just Like Home in Chetek, Wis.
She was born April 21, 1929, in Mount Carmel, N.D., to John H. and Lavina M. (Herrgolt) Illerbrunn. She married Gerald L. Hell on Oct. 15, 1949, in Mount Carmel. She and her husband farmed in rural New Auburn, Wis., for many years. She enjoyed cooking, baking, canning and gardening (especially her strawberry patch). She graciously welcomed people into her home, whether it was on the holidays or just for a friendly visit ... the coffee pot was always on! She was a patient, giving and fun-loving mother and grandmother, who loved spending time with her family and will be missed by those who knew her.
She is survived by her one son, Doug (Sheree) Hell, of New Auburn; four daughters, Sharon Lotts, of Bloomer, Wis., Joann (Mike) Shipman, of Bloomer, Sandy (Ron Hanson) Hell, of New Auburn, and Lisa Hell, of St. Paul, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and the first great-great-grandchild, due in February.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lavina (Herrgott) Illerbrunn; her husband, Gerald; one infant son, Little Dougie; son-in-law David Lotts; and siblings Francis, Steve, Margaret, Florence, Caroline and Jane.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 24, at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in New Auburn, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in North Catholic Cemetery in Bloomer. Online condolences may be expressed at www.olsonfuneralhomebloomer.com.
