House fire

The Barron Fire Department was called out at 5:30 a.m. to a house fire Sunday morning just northeast of Barron at 1444 15 3/8 street. The entryway to the house, a three-bedroom owned by Shawn and Krista Ellwood, had flames visible through the ceiling when firefighters arrived on scene. Chief Mike Romsos said crews used less than 500 gallons of water to knock down the fire and save the home. “The house is not a total loss, but it will need a lot of major reconstruction due to smoke damage,” he said. The fire department was there a couple of hours, responding with 15 personnel and eight trucks and apparatus. Barron Electric was called to cut off power to the house. The cause of the fire is unknown. No one was injured. The family of four is currently staying with relatives. Photo by Jim Bell
