A program giving free lunches to kids in Bloomer got a boost last week with the donation of cheese curds. The Chippewa County Dairy Promoters and the Bloomer FFA Alumni teamed up to purchase $657 ($400 and $257 respectively) worth of cheese curds from Ellsworth Cooperative Creamery to be distributed in the lunches. Above from left, Tyler Seibel, representing Chippewa County Dairy Promoters places a package of cheese curds into a lunch sack held by Kobussen Buses driver Geno Fidler.
Since mid-July free lunches have been distributed to any children wishing to receive them from a Kobussen bus in the parking lot of Shadick’s Price Rite grocery store thanks to the efforts of the Bloomer Food Pantry and area churches. The lunches are available Mondays through Thursdays from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., or until they are gone.
