Work began last week on the horse arena at the Bloomer Fairgrounds. Last week the Bloomer Advance reported that fundraising efforts were underway to repair and restore the horse arena. Organizers said the old dirt in the arena needed to be removed and a new base of sand installed in its place. Above, workers from Michels Grading & Trucking work on removing the old material and preparing the arena for the new base on Friday, July 24. As of Monday, July 26, the sand had been put down, the gates were re-painted and work had been done to prep the fence for re-painting. The community club is also hoping to run water down to the horse arena area. An open “fun” horse show is being planned for Saturday, Aug. 8.
