On the cold Saturday morning of Feb. 23, the Bloomer Fire Department was able to sharpen their firefighting skills thanks to Pat and Sandy Shadick. The house pictured was donated to the fire department to use as a practice burn. This opportunity allowed some of the newest members as well as the older seasoned members of the department to be inside a live burn. One of the newest members of the fire department was quoted as saying “Being able to be inside a house that was on fire was the neatest thing I have ever experienced in my life.” This year, so far the fire department has responded to two fully engulfed house fires, by the time the fire fighters arrived on both scenes the attack was from the outside.
In addition to donating a house to the Bloomer Fire Department to do a practice burn on, Pat and Sandy Shadick donated $500 to the Bloomer Fire Department. Pictured above Bloomer Fire Chief Brian Bleskacek accepts a check from Pat Shadick and thanks him for the donations.
