A fire at 121 Vine St., in the city of Bloomer destroyed a garage in a condominium on Sunday, June 23. According to Bloomer fire chief Brian Bleskacek the call came in at 5:17 p.m. and 16 firefighters responded. The fire department had the fire contained and extinguished in 20 minutes and was on scene for about two hours doing mop-up and clean-up said Bleskacek. The garage, a car and a boat were a total loss. The living quarters of the unit with the garage suffered a little water damage, smoke smell and possibly a very little smoke damage. The other unit in the building had a little bit of smoke smell. However, the condominium next door, to the south, had some heat damage (melting) to the siding. Damage is roughly estimated at $110,000–115,000. Bloomer EMS and Bloomer Police also responded to the fire. The condominium is owned by Steve and Carol Schmidt.
