Broadband in Western Wisconsin on “The West Side” August 5

Broadband in western Wisconsin will be discussed on “The West Side” at 10 a.m. on Monday, August 5 on Wisconsin Public Radio’s The Ideas Network stations 88.3 WHWC-FM/ Menomonie-Eau Claire and 88.7 WRFW-FM/ River Falls.

Host Dean Kallenbach welcomes Rep. Ron Kind (D- WI 3rd District), who was recently selected to be a member of the U.S. House Task Force on Rural Broadband Expansion; State Sen. Patrick Testin (R-Stevens Point), who is among the sponsors of legislation that would create tax exemptions for telephone company properties used to provide broadband service; Dennis Bachman, CEO of Citizens Connected Co-op in New Auburn; David Danzinger, Buffalo County Board supervisor; and Steve Bauder, director of engineering for the Wisconsin Educational Communications Board. Topics of discussion will include the current state of broadband in western Wisconsin and efforts to expand it.
