Beginning at 10:00 A.M. on Sunday, September 23rd a 150th Anniversary worship service will start the day-long Sesquicentennial Celebration at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 1324 15th Avenue in Bloomer. Visiting officials from the statewide Wisconsin Conference of the UCC and from the Northwest Wisconsin Association of UCC Churches will participate in the various aspects of the worship service.

Launching the events will be First Congregational’s resident pastor Pauline Bangle issuing greetings of the church and welcomes to the dignitaries, visiting pastors who have previously served this church, guest pastors of other denominations, and of course church members and friends. Continuing the anniversary commemoration will be The Reverend Franz Rigert of the Wisconsin Conference, DeForest, WI, and The Reverend Rob MacDougall of the Northwest WI Association. They will lead the assemblage in prayer, hymns, and readings from the Holy Scripture. Presenting a vocal solo during the service will be Soprano Kris Martineau, a friend of the church from Chippewa Falls.

Following the service a catered dinner will be served.

During early afternoon a choral presentation of Christian music will be sung by “With One Voice,” a gospel choir from Fall Creek and Augusta. Featured will be the song “Hearts and Hands Together,” an original composition written for the church by Composer Thom Flug. The lyrics for the song resulted from inspiration from two poems written by church member Loraine Faschingbauer.

Free time between and after events will facilitate intermingling of members, guests, and dignitaries for general fellowship, reminiscences, and especially renewing acquaintences with previous pastors who’s attendance may include the Reverends Wayne Lura (’71 – ’75), Bill Klossner (’76 - ’79), Philip Schneider (’92 - ’09), and Sandy Kosmos (occasional). Also during time available, attendees will be encouraged to browse photo galleries of confirmands, and displays of historical relics and keepsakes bestowed upon the church during its one-and-one-half century existence. These will be available for viewing in the Christian Education Rooms.
