Jennifer L. Royce, age 63, passed away at her home in Eau Claire on November 10, 2015. She was born August 27, 1952 in Eau Claire to George and Shirley (Higley) Royce. She worked as an Administrative Assistant in the retail industry and enjoyed her cats, knitting, quilting, going antiquing and spending time with her family and friends.

Helen H. Faschingbauer, age 88, passed away at Care Partners in Bloomer on Thursday, November 5, 2015. She was born to Harvey and Pearl (Berg) Rihn on November 9, 1926 in Bloomer. Helen married Lester Faschingbauer on November 12, 1946 in Bloomer. Helen worked at the Western Publishing Company, the Bloomer Farmers Store and on the family farm.

Walter Bleskacek

Walter William Bleskacek Jr. was born in Auburn Township, Chippewa County, Wisconsin on January 14, 1927 the son of Walter J. and Agnes A. (Zwiefelhofer) Bleskacek. He grew up on a dairy farm in rural Bloomer, Wisconsin and graduated from Bloomer High School. For a period of time he worked with his father on the farm. He met Elsie Onderak and on August 10, 1963 they were united in marriage in Crystal Falls, Michigan. They made their home in Amery where Walter worked for Fabri-Tek. They purchased a home in 1965. After Fabri-Tek closed he worked as a custodian at the Amery School, and a technician for Boumatic Farm Systems and installed and repaired milking equipment. Because of his experience at Fabri-Tek he worked in electronics for Dynatronix and later Nova Tran from which he retired. Walter was active in the community serving on the Amery Fire Department, the Amery Historical Society, Polk County Right to Life and the Knights of Columbus. He was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church as well. He was a supporter of the Stower Seven Lakes State Trail and the Arnell Humane Society. As his children were growing up he also served as a 4-H leader. As health care needs increased he moved to River Bend. During the past few months has been a resident of Willow Ridge Healthcare where he died on Wednesday evening, October 28, 2015 at the age of 88 years.

Thomas A. Greenlee, age 84, of Eau Claire passed away October 22, 2015 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire. He was born January 18, 1931 in Wausau to Wayne Ardath and Lenore L. (Schwab) Greenlee. He graduated from St. Paul’s Grade School in 1945, Bloomer High School in 1949 and served in Korea in the Air Force from 1950 – 1954 as a medic in the Rescue and Air Evacuation unit. He married Marianna Meyers on August 23, 1958 in Eau Claire Wisc., and received his Bachelor of Science Degree and Teacher’s certificate from the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire in 1959. He worked as a livestock feed salesman and owned a feed mill and mineral plant in Shawano. He taught grade school at Holy Family in Bayfield, High school at the Menominee Indian School in Keshena, and College at Fox Valley in Appleton and Northeast Technical CC in Norfolk, Neb. He was a member of the KC’s, American Legion, Toastmasters, Air Rescue Association and Air Evacuation Association. He and Marianna volunteered for Christian Appalachian Project in Kentucky, Community outreach on Johns Island SC, Focus on the Family in Colorado and as prison ministers at Jackson Correctional Institute in Wisconsin. He was a Benedictine Oblate with St Benedicts Monastery, St. Joseph, Minn., and was proud of his four-year bible study with the LaCrosse Diocese.

John A. Rihn, age 87, passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Care Partners in Bloomer. He was born on December 15, 1927 in Bloomer to Harvey and Pearl (Berg) Rihn. He married Betty Marquardt on May 21, 1966 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bloomer. John was a dairy farmer in Cooks Valley all his life. One of John’s greatest joys was working alongside his family on the farm. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to neighbors in need. John enjoyed tending to his animals, playing cards, riding motorcycle and spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandkids.

Peter R. Prince, age 73, passed away Saturday, October 17, 2015 at his home in Bloomer. He was born on January 6, 1942 in Cook’s Valley to Joseph Roy and Alphonsina (Meinen) Prince. He married Peggy Anderl on July 25, 1964 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Bloomer. He earned his Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree from the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire and worked as a supervisor for 25 years at Uniroyal. He also worked for 19 years at Shadick’s Price Rite and drove cars for Morrie’s Chippewa Valley Mazda in Chippewa Falls. Peter was a gregarious person and loved entertaining people with his humor and stories. He had a generous spirit and felt it was his privilege to help others. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching sports, taking the pontoon for a ride, going to Laughlin but especially spending time with his family and friends.

Dorothea "Faye" Harris

Dorothea “Faye” Harris, age 92, passed away at Dove Healthcare in Bloomer (The Maplewood) on Monday, October 5, 2015. Faye was born on January 23, 1923 to Edgar and Ethel “Ruth” (Rodgers) Lippincott in Milan, Missouri. She married Mayne F. Harris on June 12 1946 in Stanberry, Missouri. She taught elementary school in a one room school house in Missouri and Chetek and was a teacher’s aide in New Auburn. She was a member of Christian Life Fellowship and taught Sunday school and vacation bible school for many years. Faye loved God’s bountiful creation and gifts of flowers, birds, music and sharing her faith with others. Living for Jesus was the theme of Faye’s life. She was thankful that she could share the Lord’s message with all her friends and family.

Dr. Sang Bock Lee, MD, passed away at home with family at his bedside on Thursday, October 1, 2015.  He fought a courageous battle with dementia for four years after first suffering a stroke in 2002.

Samuel L. Nelson

Samuel L. Nelson, age 61, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family, on September 26, 2015 after an eleven year battle with cancer. Sam was born on July 10, 1954 in Chippewa Falls to Vernon and Helen (Sickora) Nelson. After graduating from Chippewa Falls High School in 1972 Sam joined the National Guard. In 1972 he married Michelle Kempe and they had three children. After they divorced, he married Charlotte Jenneman-Demers in 1997. Sam worked several jobs throughout his life including: the railroad, owner of SS Auto Body, PMI, the city of New Auburn and he volunteered for the New Auburn Fire Department. He enjoyed spending time at the hunting cabins, fishing, grilling out, camping, gardening, canning, 4-wheeling and spending time with his family and friends, especially his children and grandchildren. Sam did not let his illness stop him from recently going on a cruise to Mexico and Florida with his family; he loved every second.

Laramie Marvin Peterson 83 of Dallas; died on Saturday; September 19, 2015 at The Dallas Care and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on March 1, 1932; a son of Harry and Natalie Silvernale Peterson. Laramie was a single man who worked for many years for General Motors. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Surrounded by the love of family and friends, David Hartman passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 after a courageous two-year battle with brain cancer, which he fought with determination, patience, and an inexhaustible sense of humor. David was born July 5, 1947 to Gilbert and Gwendolyn (Ringer) Hartman in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. He grew up in Bloomer, Wisconsin, the oldest of five children, and graduated from Bloomer High School in 1965. A talented artist, he studied commercial art and graduated from Madison Area Technical College, after which he moved to the Fox Valley to work in the art department of Wisconsin Tissue Mills. He later worked as a graphic artist for Mills Fleet Farm, RR Donnelly and Hoffmaster. In 1969, he married Barbara Laemmrich and they had two sons, Steve and Mark. On March 8, 1980, he married Christine Manlove, and they had two children, Brian and Megan. David was a simple man at heart, whose kindness was appreciated by many and who was always generous with his time and talents. He enjoyed sports of all kinds, actively participating in figure skating, softball, and golf, and watching the Brewers, Badgers and Packers whenever possible. He loved the many weekends spent at the family cottage on Berry Lake, particularly when fishing was involved. He was a prolific artist, skilled at drawing, painting, and photography; he produced countless portraits, landscapes, and other wonderful works of art, as well as contributing significantly to the scenic artwork and theatrical photography of Appleton North Theatre productions for many years. Dave loved to tell jokes (often accompanied by good-natured groans) and was never too busy to strike up a conversation with anyone and everyone. Most importantly, he loved his family and spending time with them, traveling near and far, baking cookies with the grandchildren, playing games, or watching another episode of Family Feud.
