Bald Eagles Residing North of Bloomer

Posted: Thursday, July 5, 2012 10:18 am

We live 15 miles north of Bloomer in the Blue Diamond lake area, 2 1/2 miles off of Highway 40 on the south end of Chain Lake, 298th Ave. Bald Eagles have been nesting just across our road for about 12 years and even winter here. Faithfully each year they raise one or two eaglets. It has been an unusual privilege to hear them squawking through their growing stages and watch them fly over our place every day.

The immature eagles are flying now, but seem reluctant to leave the area. Our neighbor had a visitor from Richfield, Minn., this past weekend and he captured these wonderful moments with his telephoto lens of the parent eagle bringing food back to the young eagle. One can see the parent still patiently watching as the offspring eats the prey.
